Tamworth CVS – a new name, a new look, and important changes to membership and charges
In common with a number of voluntary and community organisations, Tamworth CVS is faced with a major reduction in income this year, having dealt with a significant reduction in income last year. Over the past 6 months, we have been developing and implementing plans to improve our own sustainability to ensure that we can to continue providing top quality services needed by voluntary and community organisations and volunteers locally. As part of this work we have taken the opportunity to update our name and look. Trustees have recently taken the decision to change our name from Tamworth Council for Voluntary Service to Tamworth Centre for Voluntary Services, so we are still Tamworth CVS, but with a name that more closely describes us.
Tamworth CVS remains the only CVS in Staffordshire that has continued to provide membership and services free of charge to voluntary and community organisations. However, with year on year reductions in funding, we are no longer able to maintain this position. With effect from 1st July 2011 Tamworth CVS modest membership charges have been introduced, based on income, and will also be introducing charges for some of our services.
We will continue to offer many of our services at no cost to voluntary and community organisations. Where charges have been introduced, these are heavily discounted for members, and bursaries are also available.
Membership packs have been sent out to existing CVS members and we are currently sending out packs to other groups and organisations on our database. As from August 1st, the e-bulletin and copies of our Tamworth Connects newsletter will be restricted to those groups in membership; those organisations not eligible for membership can still receive copies for a small charge.
